Kate Fyfe
President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
With more than 30 years of senior executive experience, Kate Fyfe brings a wealth of experience in acute care, mental health, and health system planning to her role as President and CEO.
Throughout her career, Kate has worked collaboratively with health system partners to improve accountability, performance, access to care, and quality outcomes. While focusing on improving access to quality care, Kate has also led a variety of transformational projects related to care delivery and the implementation of broad structural changes to our health system.
An active member in her community, Kate currently sits on a number of local and provincial boards, including Ontario Health atHome, Timmins Academic Family Health Team and Timmins Chamber of Commerce.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa, is a Certified Professional Accountant / Chartered Accountant and has completed the Rotman Advanced Health Leadership Program. Past positions include serving as interim CEO of the North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), Vice President of Finance at the North East LHIN, and Vice President of Corporate Services at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
Dr. Doug Arnold
Chief of Staff
Dr. Doug Arnold is well known as a dynamic leader in the medical field, with a strong track record and team approach to driving organizational improvements and best practices. Serving as Chief of Staff since 2021, he has worked to implement change to improve the patient experience, as well as population health for the district. Prior positions at the hospital include President of the Medical Staff, President of the Hospitalists Care Group, and Medical Program Director for Family Medicine.
Besides working to ensure patients receive exemplary care while at the hospital, Dr. Arnold has also served the community in Timmins since 1991 through his private Family Medicine practice. Primarily now focused on Occupational Medicine, Dr. Arnold works as consulting physician for approximately 10 to 12 companies based in the Timmins area and other parts of Northeastern Ontario.
He holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto and completed a Family Practice Residency with the University of Calgary. A life-long learner, Dr. Arnold has continued to seek out new certifications and qualifications including recently as an Associate of the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine (2019), a Medical Review Officer (2019), and obtaining his Foundations in Occupational Medicine (2018-19).
Devoted to the community, he has volunteered his time as Lay Pastor with the First Baptist Church Timmins, the Timmins Marlins Swim Club and the Future Olympians Club. In addition, he has served as secretary Section of Occupational and Environmental Medicine of the Ontario Medical Association.
Joan Ludwig
Vice President of Clinical & Chief Nursing Executive
With close to two decades in health care leadership, Joan Ludwig brings a passion for patient care and nursing education to her role as Vice President of Clinical, Chief Nursing Executive – a role she has held since 2011. Her leadership at the hospital dates back to 2007, when she took on the position of Director of Clinical Services.
Joan is committed to improving the health of Northerners, having been raised and educated in the Northeast. She holds a Bachelor of Science (BScN) in Nursing from Laurentian University and a Master of Education from Nipissing University. In addition, Joan holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), from the Australian Institute of Business. Originally from Sudbury, she and her husband Ed moved to Timmins in 1996, where they have raised their two sons. She has advocated for access to nursing education across the Northeast, having taught nursing at Laurentian University in their distance education program and locally at Northern College.
Joan continues to be active in nursing and health care education, as the Chair of the Health Sciences Program Advisory Committee, at Northern College.
In addition to her role as a nursing professor, Joan has held health care leadership roles and occupational health roles in the community setting.
Mike Resetar
Vice President of People & Director of Operations
While Mike Resetar has held many titles since starting at the hospital in 2003, his work as a human resource leader has always been focused on people. As Vice President of People, he ensures the health care needs of the community can be met by recruiting and retaining the more than 1,000 skilled health care and other professionals needed to deliver quality care at the hospital.
By collaborating with partners, including local colleges and universities, and through his work as co-chair of the Employers Council, Mike has worked to promote health care jobs to students and bring exceptional professionals to the community.
Prior to joining the hospital, Mike held various leadership positions in the human resources (HR) field, including serving as an HR manager with the Northeastern Catholic District School Board, the Airport Group at Toronto Pearson Airport, and with Goodwill Industries in Toronto.
Mike has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Laurentian University, a Post Graduate Degree in Human Resources Management from Humber Polytechnic, and a Masters certificate in Healthcare Management from the Schulich School of Business through York University. Born and raised in Northern Ontario, he has coached minor hockey for many years and enjoys spending time being active outdoors in our community.
Marc Demers
Vice President Corporate & Chief Financial Officers
Marc Demers brings a wealth of experience in leadership and excellence in the financial management of hospitals and the health care sector to his role as Vice-President Corporate / Chief Financial Officer. He applies his strong skills in performance improvement, corporate finance, government relations, and partnership building to enhance patient outcomes across the continuum of care.
Before joining the hospital in 2020, Marc worked as a Director, Hospital Sector, with Ontario Health North East, as well as held positions as the Controller / Manager of Corporate Services, Performance and Decision Support Officer with the North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), a Planning Consultant with the Central LHIN, and a Business Support Specialist at Humber River Hospital.
Marc holds an MBA in Health Industry Management and Corporate Finance from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and a BSc., Honours in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo. Currently, he is a CPA candidate with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.
He has volunteered his time serving on the Board of the North Bay Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic, as a volunteer with the Trillium Health Emergency Department, and as an Operations Working Group member of the Dorothy Ley Hospice. A father of three, he is also an avid drone operator responsible for shooting some great footage of the hospital.
Guy Guindon
Chief Information Officer & Director of IS/IT and Diagnostic Services
As the Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Services/Information Technology and Diagnostic Services, Guy Guindon guides the strategic vision, implementation, and oversight of the hospital’s IT systems and diagnostic services. With a career spanning about four decades in healthcare, including more than two decades in leadership, Guy has a well-established reputation for utilizing technology to boost operational efficiency and encourage innovation.
He has consistently focused on aligning technology initiatives with organizational objectives, driving digital transformation, and maintaining robust data security and regulatory compliance. Notably, Guy has led significant projects such as the implementation of Meditech Expanse (a new Hospital Information System) and has been recognized for his contributions.
Before joining the hospital in early 2002, Guy led the Imaging Informatics Department at Sudbury Regional Hospital for seven years. During his tenure, he played a key role in implementing advanced diagnostic imaging solutions, introducing the first Picture Archiving Communication System in northeastern Ontario. This innovation enhanced access to diagnostic images, reduced report turnaround times, and improved overall patient care. Earlier in his career, Guy worked as a Field Engineer for General Electric Medical Systems for nine years.
He is a certified Electronic Engineering Technologist, having earned his qualification from Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology. In his personal life, he enjoys hockey, camping, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He also served for 22 years as a committed member of the North Eastern Ontario Network (NEONET) Board.
