Orthopaedic Technician Day

Orthopaedic Technician Day

Founded in 1972, the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists serves to credential Orthopaedic Technologists across the country.

Orthopaedic technology is a challenging and demanding profession, but most importantly it is a truly rewarding profession. As Allied Health Professionals, Orthopaedic Technologists work independently and collaboratively to provide care and support to the orthopaedic patient.

Orthopaedic Technologists are expert in plaster and synthetic cast application and are responsible for instructing patients on this form of treatment. They provide care to clients with orthopaedic injuries through the application, adjustment and removal of a variety of casts, splints and traction fittings. Orthopaedic Technologists perform casting services primarily in hospital fracture rooms, while some medical clinics now offer limited orthopaedic services as well.

An Orthopaedic Technologist is an unquestionable asset to any healthcare team. The CSOT continually strives to educate, promote and maintain the highest professional standards.
