Accounts Receivable Clerk

Position Overview

To verify, process, correct and collect billings of assigned accounts for hospital services.

Position Responsibilities

 

  • To verify, process and correct charges for services provided by the hospital to patients and other customers.
  • To send and submit billings for charges to patients, other hospital customers and various guarantors including OHIP, WSIB, insurance companies, other provinces, federal agencies, other countries, etc.
  • To collect delinquent and unpaid accounts in a timely manner.
  • To answer inquiries from patients, guarantors and others regarding any charges for hospital services.
  • To assist with daily balancing of cash receipts and bank deposits.
  • To assist with other tasks within the Business Office as required.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum college diploma in accounting or equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate good skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Current relevant accounting experience in an integrated computerized environment would be an asset.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a computerized environment including the necessary keyboarding skills to execute tasks efficiently and accurately. Attention to detail is key as well as accuracy in data entry.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate information clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be alert, possess a good memory, a pleasant personality and demonstrate evidence of tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing with people.
  • Must possess the physical ability to work while sitting most of the working day and to travel short distances in the Hospital.
  • Most possess the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must possess the ability to make mathematical computations quickly and accurately.
  • Employment history which demonstrates regular attendance at work.
  • Must show initiative and be able to multi-task.
  • Must be able to follow complex instructions.
  • Must be responsible and accountable.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an asset.
  • All TADH staff members must follow the COVID-19 vaccination series in accordance with the most up-to-date vaccine guidance provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary of $28.06/hour; $54,717.00/year (As per Step 1 of the STW collective agreement.)
  • Option to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
