Registered Practical Nurse – Acute Medical

Position Overview

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for providing quality, patient-focused care in accordance with the nursing philosophy, policies, and standards of Timmins and District Hospital (TADH), the College of Nurses (CNO), and the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).

Position Responsibilities

  • Current Certificate of Competence issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario, as a Registered Practical Nurse.
  • Ability to work across all areas of the Integrated Medical Unit (Acute Medical, Rehab, and CCC).
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • Completion of a recognized Medication Administration Course.
  • Sound knowledge of the nursing process, theory, and professional responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Functions independently within the scope of practice.
  • Maximizes utilization of resources.
  • Awareness of multicultural issues affecting health care needs.
  • Basic computer skills, including Meditech.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
  • A minimum of one year of current adult medical nursing experience is preferable.
  • Employment history demonstrating regular attendance at work.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an asset.
  • All TADH staff members must follow the COVID-19 vaccination series in accordance with the most up-to-date vaccine guidance provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary of $34.84/hour – $67,938.00/year (as per step 1 of the STW collective agreement).
  • Option to enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
