Patient and Family Advisors Embedded into the Work of the TADH – Hospital Calls for More Advisors

For almost ten years, Patient Advisors – people with lived hospital experience – have been part of the organizational culture at Timmins and District Hospital (TADH).

We are incredibly fortunate to be supported by the engaged individuals who are part of our Patient and Family Advisory Committee.

Recognizing the value this input brings to providing patient-centered care, TADH is wanting to expand their pool of Advisors and welcomes people who will consider this opportunity.

“We are incredibly fortunate to be supported by the engaged individuals who are part of our Patient and Family Advisory Committee,” says Kate Fyfe, President and CEO of TADH. “Their input is guiding our efforts to enhance how we provide exceptional quality and patient-focused care.” Examples of work Advisors have been involved in to date include:

  • Helping to re-design the current website.
  • Providing input into the TADH 2022-2027 strategic plan.
  • Advising on where to place sitting spaces for patients, and more.

Joanne Hagger-Perritt, Chair of the TADH Patient and Family Advisory Committee notes, “Having the opportunity for patients to provide their voice to hospital-based projects is one of the most important parts of ensuring patients have the best experience possible when they come into the hospital. Our team of Patient Advisors offer a different lens to look through when considering how to enhance a hospital service/program, or what types of services/programs could be considered into the future.”
