Critical Care

For Intensive Patient Care

The Critical Care Unit (CCU), also known as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), at the Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a 7-bed specialized unit that cares for critically ill patients and/or patients with life-threatening conditions that need a higher level of care.

A multidisciplinary team of specially trained physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, pharmacists, dietitians and social workers provide care in the CCU. Through low nurse to patient ratios, our team closely monitors and is able to detect and respond to subtle changes in patient condition quickly.

Here for You and Your Loved One

We know that being in the CCU, or having a loved one require care in the CCU can be a frightening experience. In addition to providing high-quality patient care, our team is here to support the family and loved ones of CCU patients. Family and loved ones are an incredibly important part of a patient’s care team and we will work closely with you to keep up to date on the patient’s condition, changes, and ongoing plans.
