Canada Day

Canada Day

Canada Day, on July 1, is a federal statutory holiday celebrating our country’s birth. It marks the anniversary of Canadian Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867 with the passing of the British North America Act and the uniting of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia into a single country.

Formerly known as Dominion Day, it was renamed Canada Day in 1982.

This Canada Day also marks the 60th anniversary of the Canadian Flag. Did you know we are the only country to have a maple leaf on our flag?
