May 18 marks the beginning of National Paramedics Services Week (May 18-25).
Did you know that Ontario has over 11,000 Paramedics, 1,200 Communications Officers and more than 2,000 Support Staff who handle 1.75 million emergency calls every year?
Paramedics provide services to 14.8 million Ontario residents in 444 communities.
Paramedic services are administered by the Cochrane District Services Board (CDSB) throughout the Cochrane district. In Timmins, its largest centre, there are approximately 20 full-time and 30 part -time paramedics. Cochrane District’s paramedics are highly skilled, compassionate professionals trained to provide emergency medical treatment and transport sick and injured people.
