Position Overview

Position Responsibilities

  • Assuring overall successful implementation and ongoing management and support of a portfolio of clinical applications.
  • Participating in the department’s after-hours support rotation.
  • Working with external partners and vendors.
  • Overseeing and assisting with activities and responsibilities of end users.
  • Identifying and assisting in resolution of clinical applications issues.
  • Gaining a working knowledge of all applications within your portfolio.
  • Developing, recommending and implementing ‘best practices’ wherever possible and appropriate.
  • Working with users to develop user requirements and translating them into technical requirements.
  • Creating and developing project charters and plans during implementation of applications.
  • Assisting in development of budget requirements.
  • Communicating with senior management, departments, and teams to raise new issues and resolve existing issues relating to applications support.
  • Participating in projects from initiation to closure.
  • Advancing the use of the electronic chart, clinical systems and tools.

Position Requirements

  • Must possess one of the following: Bachelor’s degree in health information technology, Healthcare Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Nursing or Allied Health.
  • Formal training and experience employing application support methodologies and/or possess formal computer science training at a college or University level or willing to pursue further education and training in computer science.
  • Must have current experience with application development and support in a Meditech environment.
  • Experience or formal training in project management tools and best practices are an asset; Must be able to manage several projects/tasks at one time.
  • Computer programming experience is an asset.
  • Good knowledge in the requirements gathering, analysis and design aspects of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Solid understanding of IT dependency, particularly in EMRs, and how IT is applied in clinical practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement evidence/research findings in practice.
  • Supports, promotes and embraces change with a commitment to continuous quality improvement and system enhancements.
  • A minimum of 5 years of solid application support experience, preferably within a healthcare setting working on a portfolio of applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain project schedules, documentation, communications and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate tactfully, effectively and with discretion with all levels of staff and management.
  • Polished communication, presentation and training skills, with the ability to facilitate and lead 1:1 or group sessions for students, staff, physicians.
  • Experience in implementing applications and introducing changes to a department’s workflow.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office productivity suite of software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an asset.
  • All TADH staff members must follow the COVID-19 vaccination series in accordance with the most up-to-date vaccine guidance provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Rate of Pay: To be determined, based on experience and certification
  • Option to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
