Position Overview

To plan and implement specific treatment programs for both individual and groups of clients of the Timmins and District Hospital.

Position Responsibilities

  • To provide opportunities for clients to progress to their highest degree possible by assessing the client’s condition, analyzing the client’s functional abilities and developing a client-centered approach to treatment.
  • To continually evaluate the client’s treatment program and adjust the treatment program so that it meets the client’s goals.
  • To utilize a variety of occupational therapy treatment methods; including creative and manual techniques, technology development/fabrication of custom equipment and/or adapted techniques, educational material, recreational and social activities as the situation requires.
  • To consult with other members of the Multi-disciplinary team to coordinate therapeutic programs for individual clients and groups of clients.
  • To prepare and present reports of client’s progress in and reactions to Occupational Therapy and to maintain up-to-date health records of this progress.
  • To work with the client, family and community agencies concerning appropriate Occupational Therapy home programs.

Position Requirements

  • Must be certified with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Must possess the verbal ability to communicate effectively with clients, families and other professional personnel and to use the terminology associated with Occupational Therapy.
  • Must demonstrate considerable initiative and judgment in selecting specific activities in accordance with the physician’s orders, to interpret and record results and reaction, to develop and maintain work schedule and to secure the cooperation of clients.
  • Must possess the ability to work with minimal supervision and must follow standardized procedures.  Should be adaptable to cope with changing contacts with people, situations and conditions.
  • Must have employment history which demonstrates regular attendance at work.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an asset.
  • All TADH staff members must follow the COVID-19 vaccination series in accordance with the most up-to-date vaccine guidance provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary of $40.36/hour; $78,702.00/year (As per Step 1 of the OPSEU collective agreement.)
  • Option to enroll into Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
