Public Health Alert – Increase in Suspected Opioid Poisonings

ALERT March 26, 2025

Poisonings can happen anywhere, anytime, to anyone. Even if you don’t use often, poisonings can be fatal. If you use substances, lower your risk of poisoning.

  • Have a plan in place.
  • Avoid mixing substances.
  • Carry Naloxone/Narcan kits. Have multiple doses.
  • Reach out to mental health and addiction supports and services.
  • Test a small amount first. Start low. Go slow.
  • Don’t use alone. Stagger use so someone can respond if needed.

For anonymous, non-judgmental, 24/7 support, call the virtual safer consumption hotline: National Overdose Response Service: 1-888-688-NORS (6677)
