TADH Enhances Precautions Amid Rise in Respiratory Viruses

As a result of a detectable increase in respiratory virus-related illness in our community, the Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is moving from Green (Low) Risk Status to Yellow (Medium) Risk, which includes reinstating its mandatory masking policy, effective Wednesday, November 1st, 2023.

TADH Staff, Physicians, Volunteers and Contractors

All staff, physicians and contractors are required to wear a hospital-approved mask in all areas (clinical and non-clinical) of the TADH site and TADH offsite locations. Additional personal protective equipment may be required for patients under additional precautions or on units experiencing an outbreak. Signage is clearly posted on units and patient rooms to inform all those who enter about PPE requirements.

Patients, Designated Care Partners and Members of the Public

All patients, designated care partners (members of the public) must wear a mask upon entering the TADH main site and/or TADH offsite facility at St. Mary’s Gardens.

Mandatory masking does not apply to children under the age of two and for those who are unable to wear a face mask as a result of a medical condition or disability.

Temporary removal of a mask is permitted where necessary for the following purposes:

  • Admitted patients while in their assigned room.
  • Actively engaging in athletic or fitness activity.
  • Consuming food or drink.
  • For any emergency or medical purpose.

Visitor Restrictions

TADH is reverting to Designated Care Partner (DCP) visitation, with two DCPs permitted per patient. It is recommended that only one DCP visits the bedside at a time. Masking is required by DCPs at all times during the visit.

Exemptions for end of life and exceptional circumstances continue to be considered. Please contact a member of you or your loved ones care team to discuss.

Respiratory viruses are continue to circulate in our community and the health and safety of our patients, designated care partners, staff and physicians is our highest priority. We appreciate your continued patience, understanding and help in keeping those in TADH safe.

Individuals with specific questions about their care or the care of a loved one are encouraged to contact a member of the care team. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to General Inquiries with questions at 705-267-2131 or by using the inquiry form below to reach them by email.
