Position Overview

The Network Security and Support Administrator/Specialist is required to support & maintain the hospital’s network security infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities

Specific activities include, but are not limited:

  • Work closely with customers (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, facilities, admin staff, etc.) and fellow tech team members to provide support for new initiatives and maintaining systems to enhance patient care, increase operational efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support of network security environments includes: management of network security system resources, risk management, security compliance, vulnerability scanning, patching upgrades, multivendor firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, network design and architecture problem analysis, network troubleshooting and network maintenance.
  • Facilitate appropriate cabling (fiber and/or copper) to connected devices.
  • Participate in privacy and security incident investigation.
  • Provide on-call support outside of office hours on a rotational basis.
  • Coordinate and participate in requests for change, evaluation, installation, testing and training to ensure network performance, implementation of new and existing security applications/solutions to address emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Troubleshoot wired/wireless connectivity and provide timely resolution.

Develop and maintain accurate and current documentation associated with the development, modification and deployment of server environments / infrastructure.

Position Requirements

Min of 5 years’ experience with supporting networks (and their associated systems) within a medium/large network infrastructure.

  • Healthcare experience is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Thorough knowledge in the following areas will be considered a definite asset:
    • Virtual Environments (i.e. VMWare)
    • Technical Writing Experience
    • VPN remote access
    • Firewalls
    • Avaya IP Office
    • VoIP Systems
    • Linux
    • Wireless networks
    • Citrix
    • Remote Desktop Technology
    • Telecommunication
  • Advanced networking and communications theory: network testers and monitoring, DHCP, IP addressing, subletting, bandwidth, packet analyzers, ICMP tools, authentication.
  • Administration and maintenance of nightly backups.
  • Strong understanding of computer network protocols and services (LAN, WAN, routers, switches, TCP/IP.)
  • Work with other partner hospitals to maintain two-way secure network connectivity.
  • iSCSI SAN administration and maintenance.
  • Strong acumen with Windows and Linux platforms, Active Directory, LDAP, Outlook, MS Office, Adobe, Print server administration, interfaces, VPN, Wireless technologies, Exchange Server, Windows File Systems, Horizon View for VDI etc.
  • All TADH staff members must follow the COVID-19 vaccination series in accordance with the most up-to-date vaccine guidance provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health.

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
