Opportunities for Learning
TADH is affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) and is one of the North-Eastern sites for both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
The undergraduate program matches eight-third-year medical students to Timmins for their Comprehensive Community Clerkship (CCC) annually. The postgraduate program holds four Family Medicine residency positions in the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) and Timmins is one of a few sites currently offering longitudinal scheduling.
Timmins and District Hospital also hosts many other elective placements for learners from medical schools both in and out of country in undergraduate and postgraduate family medicine and specialty programs. This also includes Physician Assistant learners. Electives are coordinated through the Electives Program with NOSM. Further information can be obtained at on NOSM's website.
If you have an interest in teaching learners, physicians have the option of applying for faculty status through NOSM. A Local Education Group (LEG) is in place and coordinates preceptor payments, faculty and academic development, and learner educational rounds, to name a few.
Both the undergrad and post grad programs have proven to be highly successful in the recruitment of physicians to our community and we invite you to experience our welcoming learning environment, meet our preceptors and medical community. You’ll find a City known for its northern hospitality and discover amazing year-round recreational opportunities.
What better way to find out if Timmins may be a fit for you!
