Program Overview:
Rehabilitation
The Rehabilitation department strives to meet the rehabilitation needs of inpatient and outpatient clients of Timmins and District Hospital. Our team includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech-language pathologist and rehabilitation assistants.
Inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech-language pathology services can be accessed with a referral from a specialist, physician or nurse practitioner.
Timmins and District Hospital outpatient physiotherapy program currently accepts priority referrals for post op joint replacements such as hips, knees and shoulders as well as stroke, all fractures, acute orthopedic conditions referred by a specialist, complex neurological disorders and conditions requiring both OT and PT services. All additional referrals will be accepted and placed on a priority based waiting list. Specialized clinics for lymphedema and pelvic floor rehabilitation are also available with a doctor’s referral.
Timmins and District Hospital outpatient occupational therapy program provides stroke and neurological rehabilitation as well as hand therapy. Cognitive assessments and driving screens are also available with a doctor’s referral.
Speech-language pathologists are health professionals who identify, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. At TADH, speech-language pathology services are limited to the adult population. Outpatient speech-language pathology services include formal and informal assessment and intervention for communication and swallowing disorders including language comprehension and expression, motor speech skills and cognitive communication skills.
Our main office is located on the ground floor at the rear of the hospital beside the fracture clinic. We can be contacted Monday to Friday 8-4pm at 705-267-6394.
