Timmins and District Hospital appoints new President and Chief Executive Officer

Timmins, ON- The Board of Directors of the Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathleen (Kate) Fyfe as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective July 27th, 2020.

“Ms. Fyfe’s many years of experience and dedication to the health and wellness of Northerners will be a tremendous asset to TADH,” stated Gaétan Malette, Chair of the TADH Board of Directors. “We are confident that Ms. Fyfe’s leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of our hospital and representing the health care needs of our community. We look forward to beginning this new chapter as we continue to provide exemplary care to Northerners.”

Ms. Fyfe brings 25 years of senior executive experience to TADH. She is a Certified Professional Accountant – Chartered Accountant with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa and has completed the Rotman Advanced Health Leadership Program.

Prior to her appointment at TADH, Ms. Fyfe served as the Vice President Performance, Business Solutions and Human Resources for the Ontario Health/ North East Local Health Integration Network (NELHIN). There, she was responsible for the management of $1.5 billion in health system resources. This included the delivery of over 200 programs and services aimed at improving the health and wellness of the 565,000 Northerners in the NELHIN. Through her seven years, Ms. Fyfe directed the NELHIN through a period of significant change. Most recently, as a member of the Ontario Health Transition Team, Ms. Fyfe supported the Ontario Health North Region transition efforts to implement broad structural changes to our health system across the province. During her time with the NELHIN she also served as the Interim CEO, where she led the development of the organizations strategic directions and values. As Interim CEO, she also oversaw the establishment of the first Patient and Family Advisory Committee for the NELHIN Health System, ensuring that our health system is responsive to our patients and their families

Ms. Fyfe has also led several peer reviews and hospital improvement plans. Her focused efforts have led to enhancements such as improved access to care, system accountability and performance.

Ms. Fyfe also held the role of Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer at North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC). Here, she oversaw the integration of the acute care hospital (North Bay General Hospital) and regional psychiatric hospital (North East Mental Health Centre). Ms. Fyfe also held executive responsibility for a wide range of corporate and clinical areas including the Site Lead for the NBRHC Kirkwood Hospital Site.

“As a Northerner, I understand first hand why it’s so important for us to continue to have strong local leadership actively involved in the design and implementation of our evolving and complex health system,” said Kathleen Fyfe. “I am honoured and excited about the opportunity to lead TADH. I look forward to meeting the staff, physicians, volunteers, patient and family representatives as well as the community broadly. Together, we will set the priorities and directions for TADH and the people we serve.”

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a level B, fully accredited community, referral and teaching hospital serving the residents of the City of Timmins and Cochrane District as well as the adjoining areas of the Timiskaming, Sudbury and Algoma districts. The hospital offers a full range of medical, surgical, critical care, maternity, newborn, pediatric, long-term care, mental health and diagnostic imaging services.
