Timmins and District Hospital President and CEO retires after 35-year career in health care

Timmins, ON- The Board of Directors of the Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) wishes to express their deepest gratitude to and wish Blaise MacNeil the best during his retirement after 35 years in health care. 

“The strategic vision, leadership and advocacy Blaise MacNeil provided while at TADH over the last five years has had an immense impact on our hospital,” stated Gaétan Malette, Chair of the TADH Board of Directors. “Through his tireless work he has effectively dealt with many challenges and opportunities facing our hospital, health care system and community. We thank him greatly for his work and wish him the best in his retirement.”

During his time at TADH, Blaise has provided leadership for major projects including the ER Redevelopment Capital Project and the Co-generation project.  His leadership has been instrumental in building the foundation for the Meditech-One Electronic chart/ operations Project and the Medium Sized Hospital Advocacy Group. His tireless advocacy assisted TADH in gaining an additional 12 transitional care beds, and 29 pandemic overflow beds.  Blaise’s expertise in hospital accreditation facilitated a high overall achievement in the last Accreditation Canada process.  Blaise also successfully lead the hospital teams through an Optimization Review, and he is a valued leader at the regional and district COVID-19 planning tables. 

“I know that TADH will continue to progress as a community, referral and teaching hospital in the North. I am confident in the bright future of this hospital thanks to the strong board, leadership team and dedicated staff, physicians and volunteers at TADH,” stated Blaise. “I am grateful for having been part of this great health care team and community for the past five years.” 

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a level B, fully accredited community, referral and teaching hospital serving the residents of the City of Timmins and Cochrane District as well as the adjoining areas of the Timiskaming, Sudbury and Algoma districts. The hospital offers a full range of medical, surgical, critical care, maternity, newborn, pediatric, long-term care, mental health and diagnostic imaging services.
